When do the tours run?

We run tours every day starting at:
9:30AM and 2:00PM.

How long do the kayaking tours last for?

Tours last between 2 & 2.5 hours.

What are the age limits?

Four years old and up. We can provide equipment for children from one meter in height.
Kids age 4-6 – “Bring snacks and a drink, if the weather isn’t any good on the day the guides will discuss your options – Please be aware for young childrens safety and enjoyment we may ask you to come back another day”

What do I need to bring?

*Swim wear
*Any footwear you don’t mind getting wet
*Sweatshirt/ thermal layer (cold days)
*We will supply all the specialist adventure kit necessary to keep you warm and happy.

Do you supply the equipment?

Yes we supply everything you need to stay warm and afloat on the tour. A wetsuit, windproof top and everything to keep you safe on the water.

Facilities at the harbour

There is a public toilet a short walk from where the van is parked and a seasonal café at the end of the quay.

Do you have changing rooms?

We are a bit al fresco when it comes to changing- it is next to your car in the car park! Just bring a big towel and pop your swimmers on before you come.

Do you have double (tandem) and single kayaks?

We have double and single kayaks available. Doubles are easier but you may wish to go on your own. We will ask you which you would prefer when booking and then make the final decision on the day with your guide.

Car parking

The car park at lower town is free to park in and has lots of spaces.

What time to arrive?

You can join us 10 minutes before the tour start time to meet us and get some paperwork done.

How is kayak-King cheaper than elsewhere?

We keep overheads to a minimum by meeting you at the harbour which means we can pass the savings on to you our valued customers.
The price is £45 per person. If you are booking a group of 6 or more it’s £39 per person.

What happens if it's raining and windy?

It doesn’t matter we have the wetsuits and equipment to keep your warm and cosy. We start in a sheltered harbour allowing you to learn in a controlled environment and with the high coastal cliffs we can often access all the sites of interest, while staying in reasonable shelter.
On the rare occasion that we have to cancel we will offer you a different day or a refund depending on your preference.

What if I can't swim?

Not a problem, our Sit on top kayaks are very stable meaning that, unless you want to, it’s extremely unlikely you will be in the water and if for some reason you do get wet you will be wearing a Buoyancy aid which keeps you afloat.
Our qualified kayaking guides will assist in any way needed and will be on hand throughout your tour.
We do however require all participants to be water confident.

Can I use my own activity kit? i.e. wetsuit/kayak?

Yes, of course! We will have a quick chat about your kit and check it is suitable to the environment and is in a good condition. We can also help you with any questions you may have on your equipment, techniques and trip plans. Improve your knowledge and stay safe.

Will I need insurance?

We hold public liability insurance up to £5 million and are happy to provide a copy of our certificate should you need one. Bookings with Kayak King DO NOT include personal travel or accident insurance. Please ask your insurer for details of the necessary cover for taking part in Kayaking.

Is the Pembrokeshire coastal path as good from sea level?

We think it’s better… Much better…Kayaking is an amazing way of viewing the park in a whole new light, being close to the cliffs seeing their jagged majestic faces looming above you, journeying into their very heart in the amazing sea caves. You will have walked over the caves without ever realising the inner sanctums that lie beneath your feet, their strange and sometimes eerie sights and smells can really make you feel like you are journeying into a new world. Seeing a Seal at close range and on occasions so close that you can meet it eye to eye, feeling some of the innate intelligence that other mammals have. The sea birds that you would normally see flying at a great distance suddenly appear in all their colours and natural behaviours. Young nesting, Cormorants diving, Shags relaxing and sunning themselves on rocks. Are all a few of the delights that will appear right in front of your eyes! Kayak-King at certain times of year also has Crab and Lobster pots that can be pulled up so you can see different crustatia in their natural form and if you’re brave enough! Handle them. All of our instructors are well versed in local wildlife and enjoy any questions that may be asked.
